open your eyes

you know the brightness is there.
even if everyone else doesn't.

it's sad to see a friend go off the rails

people say that it can't be helped.
people view it as a laughing matter.
people think i shouldn't even bother

in most cases i would agree,
in most cases i'd turn a blind eye to it,
in most cases i'd just let it be

...but this isn't most cases.

it's your friend that used to be sunny,
it's your friend that used to be positive,
it's your friend that has lost her way

it pains me to see how far she's gone,
how everything in her life seems horrible,
how small issues become magnified,
how her blessings are seen as curses,
how meaningless she views her life now

it just. hurts to see that.

because you know your friend more,
you know the person that she used to be,
and you know the potential person she can become

so i've had enough of this negativity.
i'm going to do something about it.
i don't know how, but i sure as hell will try

i want to bring back the sunny in her,
i want her to be positive about things again,
and i want her to see that her life is blessed

so please help me, dear god.

to re-establish a friend's well-being,
a friend's level of humanity,
and a friend's sense of self-respect

i think that's worth fighting for.
