philosophy of the day

i'm quite amazed at some people who
are so positive and so sunny and
who embrace new people as all friends

the type who welcomes everyone with open arms,
the type who has no pre-conception of others,
the type who isn't judgemental

...and also the type to make friends first,
then weed out who to 'keep' and who to
'get rid of', once they know each other better

i'm not like that.

i go by first impressions,
i go by months of observation,
i go by what my gut feeling tells me

here's how my brain works;
out of all the new people that i meet,
60% of them i hate straightaway,
10% of them i have no reactions to,
10% of them are forgettable,
10% of them i would find intriguing
5% of them i would like,
and 5% i would like to be friends with.

by doing so, i don't go thru the whole process
of opening myself up to everyone first,
before 'weeding' out bad apples later on

so here's my philosophy about new people;
hate everyone first. you might just be
pleasantly surprised with what you'll find later.
